LOKS – four concerts at once
Event Introduction
LOKS is a unique work by four composers for four quartets, performed at four festivals in four countries in 2024 as part of the project Festivallinks 2.0. From the uncertainty of planting the seed to the abundance of the harvest, the piece draws an arc, a circle (‘loks’ in Latvian) across the four performances, which unfold during the growing season.
In each festival the composition has been performed by a different combination of instruments. All performances have been combined by film director Toms Harjo so they form now one piece for an orchestra of 16 players: LOKS – the film!
If you attended one of the concerts, watching the film will be a unique experience to experience the combined version of the composition. And if you have not experienced one of the performances, this is your chance to do so and enjoy LOKS – four concerts at once.
The film is now seen on the big screen for the first time in Helsinki at the Musica nova festival.
The European Union has financed the Festivallinks 2.0 project.
