Panel discussion: Inclusion and power in contemporary music

Event Introduction

The panel discussion will consider how the world of classical and contemporary music could be more inclusive and open to all. The discussion will take place not only from a Finnish, but also from an international perspective.

Topics include:

  • Is contemporary classical music seen as a privilege of the few?
  • How can people from different backgrounds get involved and make a difference?
  • Can contemporary music offer new ways to involve everyone?
  • How to assess the quality of art when the diversity of artists and perspectives is growing?
  • What are the implications of all this for those working in the field right now?

The debate will be moderated by journalist Sonja Saarikoski and held in English.

The discussion will also be streamed online.
