The Helsinki Chamber Choir and the Ensemble Recherche: INNEN
Event Introduction
The Helsinki Chamber Choir was to have given the world premiere of a new work, INNEN, by Vito Žuraj in September 2020, but the pandemic changed the plans. It is now to be heard for the first time, nearly five years later. To a libretto commissioned from Händl Klaus, the work examines the unfiltered creativity of a disabled person with reference to Monet the painter and his gradual loss of sight. The first joint concert by the Helsinki Chamber Choir and the Freiburg-based Ensemble Recherche will also feature a virtuoso solo work for female voice and instrumental ensemble by Sweden’s Malin Bång and works by Lotta Wennäkoski, Perttu Haapanen and Franck Bedrossian.
A panel discussion, Unfiltered Creativity, will be held before the concert in the lower Helsinki Music Centre foyer. Admission to this is free, also without a concert ticket. Taking part in the discussion will be visual artists Maarit Hedman and Riina Noro, and the moderator will be project leader and dancer Maija Karhunen. In collaboration with Autism Foundation Finland and the Making Space for Artistry project.
Duration of the concert is approx. 1,5 h including intermission. Ticket sales to the concert begin soon, tbc.
