Terry Riley’s piece In C (1964) is a minimal music classic as well as a unique oddity. The description of the composition states that it can be performed by a group of any size and that the notes are only intended to serve as the foundation for the performance. The piece has lived a life of its own through numerous different interpretations, concerts and recordings.

At Musica nova, the piece will be performed and the entire process examined by a unique trio consisting of composer, electro artist Tyondai Braxton, the German electronic music powerhouse duo Mouse on Mars, and media artist, sound alchemist and “robotic musician” Sonic Robots. The result is a completely unpredictable and infinitely intriguing experience.

The event is opened by Koreless, an electronic music producer and musician, who plays his version of Steve Reich’s classic piece Drumming, “reprogrammed” for drum machines.
