The voices of man and saxophone combine to their full extent and range of tone for the Wingsconcert performed by The Polytech Choir and Saxophone Quartet Aava. The concert’s primary piece for a saxophone quartet and male choir, Siivet (Wings in English), was commissioned by the groups from composer Paavo Korpijaakko and is based on the mystical poetry of Ville Hytönen.

The Polytech Choir and Saxophone Quartet Aava are both meritorious contemporary music commissioners and performers in their own right, and in addition to their combined sound, the concert also provides an opportunity to hear both groups perform separately. The theme of the concert is the tragedy and miracle of human life; the many roles and masks of humanity behind which we hide.
