The highly-acclaimed, award-winning Boulanger Trio from Germany makes its first appearance in Finland. In this concert by the chamber ensemble formed in Hamburg in 2006, junior and senior composers converse in pairs, such as teacher–pupil; Swiss Michael Jarrell, for example, has been the teacher to Austrian Johannes Maria Staud. Continental borders are crossed in a programme that features works by composers from America, Europe and Japan.
Epigrams, with which the concert begins, was the last work ever composed by Elliot Carter. He was 102 when he wrote it in 2012, which is also the date of the works by Michael Jarrell and Sean Shepherd.
