Finnish Chamber Opera: Posthuman

Event Introduction

What comes after humans? If anyone remembers us, what can they know about our species? What will they think about our civilizations?

Posthuman is a multi-artistic sci-fi chamber opera where different genres come together equally. In the story, posthuman creatures perform an experiment in which human genes and memes are introduced into a non-human child. The world premiere opera is composed by Max Savikangas, the libretto and direction are by Teemu Mäki, the choreography is by Petri Kekoni, and is produced by the Finnish Chamber Opera. The cast consists of Reetta Ristimäki, Petri Bäckström, Susanna Tollet, and Tuukka Haapaniemi, as well as Meri Pajunpää and Anna Stenberg as dancers, a four-member singing group, and a 10-member orchestra.

Are you interested in music, dance, theatre and visual arts? How about poetry, philosophy, politics or posthumanism? If so, this performance for vocal soloists, choir, band, electronics, dancers, text, image and lights is just right for you!
