NovaCorner: Spotlight on ShadowNova

Event Introduction

Join us for festival talks at NovaCorner!

During the Musica nova festival, Café Feeniks in Sibelius Academy’s R-house will host NovaCorner, a meeting space for talks, discussions and encounters. The discussions are free of charge, welcome!

Presented twenty years ago at the Musica nova festival and now updated again for the 2020s, ShadowNova is a project that aims to provide an estradi for the next generation of composers and to make visible the work of composition pedagogy in music schools. The project will culminate in the ShadowNova concert on 9 February, when the Zagros Ensemble will perform works created by composition students during the autumn. On 10 February, NovaNurka will discuss VarjoNova with Zagros Ensemble clarinetist Mikko Raasaka, composition teacher Markku Klam and the composition students.
