Panel discussion: Sustaining – and sustainable – collaboration and co-operation in new music

Event Introduction

Music Finland invites five contemporary music professionals from other parts of Europe to Musica nova Helsinki. The guests will join a panel discussion about sustainable ways for international cooperation in the field of contemporary music. The discussion will take place on Thursday, March 2 at 16:00 at Musiikin Satama, Meripaviljonki room (Keilasatama 2 A, Espoo).

The panelists are:
– James Black, Artistic Director, KLANG Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival, Denmark
– Leonie Reineke, journalist, Südwestrundfunk, SWR2 Neue Musik, Germany
– Graham McKenzie, Artistic Director, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, UK
– Helena Tulve, Artistic Director, Estonian Music Days, Estonia

The discussion will be moderated by John Harris, the Artistic Director of Red Note Ensemble, Scotland.

The panel discussion will be held in English. Admission to the event is free, but we ask participants to register in advance via this link.

The theme of the discussion is related to the Northern Connection cooperation project, which starts this year. Led by Music Finland, the project will bring together contemporary music actors from the Nordic countries and Scotland.

The event is held in co-operation with Musica nova Helsinki and the Society of Finnish Composers.
